Winder Operator

Location: Van Wert - Ohio

Misson

Operate and monitor winder equipment on extrusion lines to ensure proper winding of plastic sheets, meeting quality, safety, and production standards. Support extrusion line operators in all necessary tasks and substitute them in simpler tasks to maintain smooth operations and productivity.

 

Key Responsibilities

Winder Operations

· Set up and operate winder equipment according to production specifications.

· Monitor and adjust winder settings to ensure consistent winding of plastic sheets or films.

· Load and unload rolls safely, ensuring proper alignment and tension.

· Inspect rolls for quality and address any defects or irregularities.

Quality Assurance:

· Perform quality checks on finished rolls to ensure compliance with specifications.

· Document quality inspections and report deviations or defects to supervisors.

· Collaborate with the quality team to resolve any product issues.

Maintenance and Troubleshooting

· Conduct routine cleaning and basic maintenance of winder equipment.

· Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, coordinating with maintenance teams for complex repairs.

· Maintain accurate logs of maintenance activities and machine performance.

Safety and Compliance

· Adhere to all safety guidelines and company policies, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).

· Ensure operations comply with food-grade or other relevant industry standards.

· Participate in regular safety training and contribute to a culture of workplace safety.

Process Optimization

· Monitor production metrics to identify areas for improvement in winder efficiency.

· Support initiatives to implement best practices and innovative solutions in the winding process.

· Collaborate with team members to reduce waste and optimize material utilization.

Collaboration and Communication

· Work closely with extrusion line operators, quality teams, and maintenance staff to ensure seamless operations.

· Communicate effectively during shift changes to maintain continuity in production.

· Provide feedback and suggestions for enhancing winder performance and workflow.

· Experience with production tracking systems and documentation.

 

Candidate Requirements

· High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in plastics or manufacturing is a plus.

· Previous experience in operating winder equipment on extrusion lines preferred.

· Physical ability to handle materials and stand for extended periods.

· Capability to work in shifts, including nights and weekends, as required.

· Basic computer skills for logging production and quality data.
